Ice time for the 2017-18 season runs from Late September to Late March.  Regular programming for the season will start on October 1st.  For Arctic Winter Games age T2T skaters it will begin on September 12th.  For additional information, see individual program information below or check out our website http://www.shorttrack06.com/schedules.html

Fall Camp is October 6th to 8th, more information is listed under that program offering below.

Speed Skating has been a staple sport in the Arctic Winter Games since 1984 when it made its first appearance at the Games in Yellowknife, NWT. Speed Skating has two age categories: Junior (Born between July 1st 1998 and June 30th 2003) and Juvenile (born between July 1st 2003 and June 30th 2006) for both male and female competitors, tryouts for the 2018 Arctic Winter Games team will be conducted in November.

    • Speed skates rental also available - $100 for the season.
    • Cheque made out to "WRSSC" for the total fees owing will be collected at the rink.

b 17-18 Associate Members, Parents, Coaches, etc.
Each Skater must select one option from b through e to select the appropriate membership level in Speed Skating Canada, as well as one program from s to w, those wishing to rent skates will also select f, the Registration system will total all costs into one.  Participants for fall camp must select either i or j depending on level if participating in the camp which is highly recommended.

  1. Each skater must have one parent registered as an Associate Member (as per Speed Skating Canada bylaws and for insurance purposes, if both parents are volunteering with the club, they should both be Associate Members to ensure proper insurance coverage).
  2. All WRSSC coaches/on-ice assistants must be registered as an Associate Member if not already registered as a Participant, Competitive, or Elite Skater.
  3. All WRSSC Board members must be registered as an Associate Member if not already registered as a Participant, Competitive, or Elite Skater.

  1. Participant Skaters are skaters who are only planning on skating within Yukon and are not planning on attending any Speed Skating Canada or other Branch sanctioned events.
  2. All skaters must register as either Participant, Competitive Skater or Elite Skater.

  1. Competitive Skaters are skaters who are planning on participating outside of Yukon at Speed Skating Canada or other Branch Sanctioned Events (including Arctic Winter Games) other than Canada West, Canada Winter Games, or National Tryouts.
  2. All skaters must register as either Participant, Competitive Skater or Elite Skater.

f 17-18 Skate Rental Speed Skating Skates are available to be rented from the club at a cost of $100 for the season (the club also has some used skates available to be purchased at a cost of $150 to $300 depending on the condition of the skates).  Contact Pauline, WRSSC Equipment Manager at 336-1040 to discuss further.

Join Calgary Speed Skating Coach Debby Fisher for 5 sessions of training.
Friday October 6th from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
Saturday October 7th from 9:00 to 10:00 AM and from 12:15 to 1:15 PM.
Sunday October 8th from 10:45 to 11:45 AM and from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.

  3. Skating times are Tuesday 7:00 until 8:30 pm, Thursday 5:30 until 7:00 pm, and Sunday 5:30 until 7:00 pm. This group can pick 2 of the 3 sessions per week.
  4. For Arctic Winter Games age skaters there will be 5 sessions prior to October 1st as follow: September 12th @ 6:15 PM, 14th @ 5:30 PM, 19th @ 6:15 PM, 24th @ 5:30 PM, 26th @ 6:15 PM (these sessions will run for 90 minutes)

  3. Skating times are Tuesday 7:00 until 8:30 pm, Thursday 5:30 until 7:00 pm, and Sunday 5:30 until 7:00 pm. This group skates 3 sessions per week.
  4. For Arctic Winter Games age skaters there will be 5 sessions prior to October 1st as follow: September 12th @ 6:15 PM, 14th @ 5:30 PM, 19th @ 6:15 PM, 24th @ 5:30 PM, 26th @ 6:15 PM (these sessions will run for 90 minutes)
